From Tbilisi over Baku to Unterlüß*: feminists worldwide against militarism – smash patriarchy!
We greet all participating friends* warmly and are happy that so many people have found their way to Unterlüß and want to fight for a peaceful and liberated world! Since 1st of September 2019 the second “Rheinmetall entwaffnen” camp against militarism takes place in Unterlüß and also since 30.08.2019 we are in a region of the world which is forgotten way too often.
We, the feminist delegation of the group “RhizomSchwarzerBete”, are currently in Tbilisi/Georgia and together with Georgian activists* we have exchanged and discussed the current situation on site, but also about a feminist, anti-militarist perspective. Our trip will then take us to Baku/Azerbaijan to meet other activists.
Militarism also plays a major role here in the South Caucasus, whether in Georgia, which is still struggling with the consequences of the 5-day war with Russia in 2008, or in the still smouldering conflict over Mount Karabagh in Azerbaijan and Armenia.
From our point of view a discussion with a feminist perspective is essential because the connection between militarism, patriarchy, capitalism and the nation state cannot be denied.
And Rheinmetall is not far away here either! For example, armaments are delivered to Saudi Arabia by Azerbaijani airline Silkway Airlines.
That is why we as activists must also move together and always think along with the overall context. Just as you create a network in Unterlüß and understand that we fight the same battle everywhere, we are on the way in South Caucasus to create a network and bring struggles together.
Despite the distance of 4000km we are united in our struggle!
We stand up together
against patriarchy,
against nation state,
against capitalism
and for an ecological, equal and liberated society!
